From 1944-1946, she served as a Second Lieutenant with the Army Nurse Corps. Eleanor also practiced nursing in the Panama Canal Zone from 1947-1950. After retirement, she spent many years doing volunteer work with the San Diego Senior Citizens. Eleanor was also very charitable to many non-profit organizations, including the Animal Humane Society. She lived in San Diego, California for 50 years before moving to La Puebla, New Mexico in 2003 to live with her son Bart. Eleanor loved gardening, working on cross word puzzles, and taking care of her beloved dog, Velvet and cat, Muffin.
