Obituary for Sue Kutz

Sue Kutz, age 67, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on May 27, 2011, after a long illness. She was born December 10th, 1943 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and grew up in Westport, Connecticut. She received her BA from the University of Rochester and her Masters in Social Work from Simmons college. She was an unusually talented and gifted psychotherapist. While raising her children (with her first husband David Jacobson), she assumed leadership roles in several causes, both as a pioneer member of the La Leche League in Boston, and as an instructor for Lamaze childbirth classes. She resided in the Boston, Massachusetts area and then lived with her husband Ilan Kutz, in Israel for twenty years, before spending her final years with family in New Mexico.

Everywhere she lived people were drawn to her. Open-minded and insatiably curious, she sought out people’s life stories, shared her own, and made many of those she met feel an instant connection and a deep sense of being understood. She had a huge heart, engaging sense of humor, and a generous compassionate soul.

Throughout her life, she had a zest for adventure, and traveled widely both at home and abroad. Possessing a keen intellect, she was an avid reader, gifted editor, crossword puzzle maven. She was an exercise enthusiast, avid swimmer, and dedicated yoga student.

She was pre-deceased by her mother, Evelyn Rabison. She is survived by her father Bruce Rabison (Lantana, Florida) her husband Ilan Kutz (Tel Aviv, Israel), daughter Emily Rothschild, her husband Char, and granddaughter, Revely (Santa Fe, New Mexico) her son Matthew Jacobson (Hilo, Hawaii) and her step-son Daniel Kutz, his wife Monique, and their daughter Michaela (Tel Aviv, Israel). She will also be dearly missed by her brother Samuel Rabison, his wife Ronnie Fuchs, niece Rebecca and nephew Joey (Cambridge, MA) along with many other loved family and friends. Memorial services have yet to be arranged. Contributions in Sue’s memory can be made to the Sue Kutz Memorial Fund care of Samuel Rabison, 14 Ash Street, Cambridge, MA 02138
