Elizabeth  Roorbach
Elizabeth (Brett) Roorbach Died at her Santa Fe home June 15, 2011. Brett was born 8/15/1914 in Philadelphia, PA to George B. and Anne Hubble Roorbach. She spent her childhood and attended school in Cambridge, MA, graduating from Radcliffe College in 1935, and later receiving masters degrees from UNM (biology 1954) and from Colorado College (physics 1967). Brett pursued various careers, including research in physiology at Harvard Biological Lab and at Lovelace Foundation in Albuquerque, and commercial photography in ABQ. Brett discovered her love of teaching and devotion to her students in Chihuahua Mexico, San Diego, ABQ, Colorado Springs, and at Santa Fe Prep from 1968-1979, when she retired. After retirement Brett was a docent at the Folk Art Museum for 12 years, taught English as a Second Language thru Santa Fe Community College for 10 years, and did volunteer work at SF Public Library, Habitat for Humanity, UNICEF Shop, Indian Market, and St. Paul's Kitchen. She thoroughly enjoyed and learned from all of these pursuits. Brett was designated a Santa Fe Living Treasure in 2007. Survivors include her brother George B Roorbach of Franconia, NH, nieces Timmie Wallace of Santa Fe, Annie Wallace of Bristol, VT, and Carol Hughes of Pittsburgh, PA, as well as many other beloved nieces, nephews, grands and great grands. Brett also leaves many loved and loyal neighbors and friends. She was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregations in Massachusetts, Colorado, California, and New Mexico, where she was very involved in the establishment of the UU Congregation of Santa Fe. She was also a long-time active member of the Sierra Club and the New Mexico Mountain Club.

A Memorial service will be held at the UU Congregation of Santa Fe at a time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, Brett has asked that donations be made to UUCSF, Boys and Girls Ranches, Kitchen Angels, or a charity of your choice. The Roorbach family has entrusted their loved one to:
