John was one of the finest students we ever had at West High School in Phoenix. I often think of him and all that he meant to the class of 1969. His mother and I taught in the Phoenix Union High School District for years and she always expressed such pride in John. When Martin Luther King was assassinated in 1968, John and I sat in the Quad for a long, long time talking about so much that was happening during that momentous time. He made my teaching such a rewarding experience. My sincere condolences go out to his family, especially Carole whom I also knew from West.
