Obituary for Nellie Herrera

Nellie Herrera, 84, a native of Las Vegas, New Mexico and resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico for the past 10 years entered into eternal rest Thursday, May 26, 2011. She was born in Las Vegas to Evangelista “Tita” Trujillo and Fidel Garcia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Matias “Max” Herrera, and son Richard. She is survived by her children, daughter-in-law Diana Herrera of Sandia Park, Lori Herrera of Santee, CA, Emily Pacheco and husband Henry Richard Pacheco of Santa Fe, Roy Herrera Sr. and wife Anna Mae of Pecos, Paul Herrera Sr. and wife Cora of Santa Fe, sister Carol Cornejo of Las Vegas, sister Sadie Bustos of Las Vegas, brother Ralph Garcia of Las Vegas, sister-in-law Florence Herrera of Las Vegas; grandchildren: Brian Herrera and partner Michael Quanci of Albuquerque, Saudi Herrera of Sandia Park, Terri Mares of Las Vegas, NM, Keith Leger of Oregon, Max Leger of San Diego, CA, Judy Gallegos and husband Anthony Gallegos of Rio Rancho, Dennis Garduno and wife Corazon of Las Vegas, Jonathan Trujillo of Iowa City, IA, Sandy Halbert and husband Chip of Poulsbo, WA, Victoria Herrera-Baker and husband Travis of San Diego, CA, Roy Herrera Jr. and wife Brie of Albuquerque, Scott Herrera of Las Cruces, Antonia Sandoval and husband James of Bernalillo, Paul Herrera Jr. and wife Wendy of Rio Rancho, Jennifer Hoy and husband David of Albuquerque, Jessica Herrera of Albuquerque, Donny Madrid of Rio Rancho, and EsteVaun Madrid of St. John’s, AZ; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.

Rosary devotional services were held on June 1, 2011. A mass of Christian burial was on June 2, 2011. Both services were held at St. Anne’s Parish in Santa Fe. Interment followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Dennis Garduno, Paul Herrera Jr., Roy Herrera Jr., Scott Herrera, Al Garcia, Anthony Gallegos, David Hoy, and EsteVaun Madrid.
