Jose Maria Cortez, 86, of El Prado passed away August 16, 2011. He is preceded in death by his son, Francis “Pancho” Cortez, brothers and sisters, Dolores Garcia, Emilio Cortez, Josefa Jones and Jose L. Cortez. He is survived by his wife, Mary Cortez, children, Prescilla Varos (Elizario), Betty Sandoval (Porfirio), Phoebe Cordova (Jose), Bella Martinez (Arturo), Rosemary Miera (Roger), Joseph Cortez (Lucy), Yolanda Cortez, Christine Gonzales (Paul), 21 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren, sisters, Brigida Martinez, Sophia Gutierrez and many other relatives and friends.

Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 7 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment will follow at the Dolores Cemetery.
